Dr. Sylvia Opanga and Dr. Nyamu from University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences and Dr. Aywak from Kenyatta National Hospital accompanied the East Africa Kidney Institute pharmacy students when they visited the Nairobi Hospital Renal Unit.
Dr Gathara, a physician and nephrologist together with the Hospital matron took the team around during the visit.
The team discussed several patient and drug related issues regarding dialysis.
Dr. Mary Kiarie, the Clinical Pharmacist discussed the role of pharmacists in managing patients with renal failure.
The team also visited the ICU to learn about dialysis in critically ill and haemodynamically unstable renal patients.
