The Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacy Practice would like to congratulate Dr Maru on this acheivement. Dr Maru was awarded a PhD at the 50th graduation ceremony of the University of Nairobi held on 6th December 2013.
Dr Maru is the Chair of the Department.
We would like to congratulate the Bachelor of Pharmacy Class of 2013 for a job well done. We are proud of you and are sure that you are on the verge of take off, career wise.

The Department held a staff retirement party on friday 27th September 2013 at the Upper Hill Springs restaurant for Mr. Muriithi Githiga who retired afew months back. Most members of the department attended the event that was graced by the Dean, Professor Guantai.
The 2nd training on bioethics was held last week from 5th to 8th August at the Paediatric Training Centre within the College of Health Sciences.
The training was organised by the Partnership in Innovative Medical Education in Kenya (PRIME-K). The training was under the AIM 4 of the Partnership which is led by Prof. Machoki. The partnership has 4 AIMS all with different leads with the PI being Prof. Kiarie.
In attendance were Drs Bururia and Mugendi from the DOPPP.
The University of Nairobi has held a prize giving ceremony to award students who excelled in their studies in the years 2009/2010 and 2010/2011.
Dr. Opanga and Dr. Oluka were in attendance where they presented the Daramola Oluyemisi Memorial Prize to the best final year female students of Pharmacy (Undergraduate) for the two respective years.
The two students were Mwangi Dorris Wanjiru (2009/2010) and Sibi Diane Loice (2010/2011).
Results for the just concluded Master of Pharmacy examinations have just been released (30.07.2013).
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the masters students for their hard work and dedication. We wish you all the best as you prepare to start Part II of your studies.
Dr. Opanga has been awarded an Implementation Science Fellowship under the PRIME-K programme. This was a competitive award and the department is very proud of Dr. Opanga's achievement. She is the second member of the department to garner this award after Dr. Nyamu.
The fellowship is set is set to run for a period of two years (July 18- 2013- July 17- 2015).
We wish Dr. Opanga all the best in this pursuit.
